Jack R. Hayes is Partner in the Washington, DC office of Steptoe LLP. Jack provides advice principally to financial institution, aerospace and defense, energy, and natural resource clients regarding U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, antiboycott, antimony laundering, and anticorruption laws and regulations. He conducts investigations and handles civil and criminal enforcement, regulatory, and defense matters involving the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, Bureau of Industry & Security, Office of Antiboycott Compliance, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, National Nuclear Security Administration, and Department of Justice, including responses to subpoenas and requests for information from, as well as submission of voluntary disclosure reports or other required reports to, the U.S. government. His practice includes counseling on diligence best practices of current and prospective business partners, developing contractual and other safeguards, assessing legal risks associated with investments, transfers, and other transactions, and supporting the preparation of license applications.
