Yuki Sakurada is a Partner in the International Trade / Foreign Investment Screening practice group of Nishimura & Asahi (Gaikokuho Kyodo Jigyo). He regularly advises clients on matters involving foreign investment screening, sanctions, export controls under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act of Japan (FEFTA), and other economic security related matters, as well as government relations. From 2019 to 2022, he served as the Director for Foreign Direct Investment Issues at the Ministry of Finance of Japan. During his tenure, he was the chief architect of the 2020 amendment to the FEFTA. Yuki was also engaged in the planning and drafting of the revisions to the FEFTA in 2022 (related to crypto assets) and the prohibition of new investments in Russia in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
